These are our list of Beach Must-haves in 2024 from a family that lives at the beach. From our trusted beach tent with sun shade, to our go-to water bottles for the beach, and the towels that I can't live without.
Table of Contents
Kids tent
We have had this exact playpen for almost 5 years now. We travel with it (it actually fits in a suitcase!), we've taken it to the beach more times than we can count, and to outdoor gatherings. It's a great family item, and a gift for someone with a kiddo, or four. Another great perk is that it comes with the sun shade attached. We use it for the babies, and our special needs kiddo since she loves it in there.
We also have an inflatable mattress and sheets for it that we use for travel.
Picnic blanket
Tired of small picnic blankets? This XL one fits everything!
Microfiber towels
I'm currently obsessed with these beach towels. I bought one for a recent trip, and came back with 6 more for everyone in the family. I even bought one for our swim instructor. They're that good! They roll up small to keep in the car if need be, or not taking much space in your bag.
Beach chairs
I could have a whole separate post on chairs. But I'm going to spare you the details for now and say this is a good lightweight budget-friendly option for most beaches! Plus they're easy on the eyes!
Small shovel
We are HUGE proponents of having safety gear on hand...especially at the beach. A shovel is great on the Pacific coast for all the folks that drive the beach, to dig your way out in case you get stuck.
Beach bag
This is THE beach bag everyone's been raving about, but you can also use it for running errands too. I like that it has a hard frame so everything is easily visible inside.
Insulated cup
I own several of these in various sizes. They stay cold all day at the beach.
Gallon of water
This might sound silly, but bring an extra gallon of water to the beach that isn't for drinking. We always use this extra water to rinse off the sand before getting in the car. Though the sand is just part of our life now, but we do try!
Kids toys
These are traditional kids toys for making shapes with the sand. I also love this set with a truck instead of a bucket.
Ride-on excavator toy
This little beach toy is such a great gift for kids 3 and up. Hours of fun picking up sand from one pile and dumping it in the next.
Waterproof phone case
Sunscreen
I have a few different ones I use. For a facial sunscreen, I love supergoop SPF 50. I wear it daily. No residue, no sticky feeling. Dries quickly and great on sensitive skin.
For the body, COOLA organic sunscreen SPF 50 is such a convenient spray on sunscreen without the chemicals.
