This tahini frosting is the perfect fluffy and creamy frosting! With notes of nuttiness, sweet, and salty.
With Tahini, cream cheese, and butter - These 3 ingredients work like magic together to create a one of kind frosting for cakes and cupcakes.
My absolute favorite way to have this frosting is on decadent chocolate cupcakes! Though I'm ok with tahini frosting on just about anything between cookies and cake. Even slathered on every slice of this Tahini Banana Bread that I love so much!

This Tahini Cream Cheese Frosting tastes similar to what you would expect from a chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting, except with tahini. Tahini is made from sesame seeds and is used on various Mediterranean dishes.
I grew up with tahini being used on both sweet and savory dishes. It's so versatile, and it sure makes a out of this world cupcake topping.

I'm so glad I made extra cupcakes, because I stuck them in the freezer and take them out when I need a sweet fix.
Yes...It may be somewhat of a daily occurrence, but this frosting is on the healthier end and a homemade frosting recipe that I happened to be obsessed with, so how can I stay away?!

INGREDIENTS
With just a few simple ingredients you can knock this flavorful frosting out in no time!
First, you'll need to find a good tahini you love the flavor of. Not all are created equal. Most importantly, when you're ready to make any tahini recipe, first be sure to stir the jar very well. It's similar to nut butter, in that it's hard on the bottom and oily on top. So, stir and the recipe will come out right!
Butter - Can't make this amazing creamy frosting without the good stuff. Grab a good quality butter for this recipe. I used salty butter to avoid adding extra salt, that I so desperately love in all my sweet treats.
Cream cheese is another essential part of this recipe. I prefer using a block of cream cheese over the whipped kind for this recipe to come out right. Cream cheese adds a touch of tangy flavor that complements the sweet and the tahini in this recipe so well.
Sugar - There's no better sugar for frosting than powdered sugar. The only kind to be used in frosting to ensure the recipe is nice and fluffy, with no grainy sugar to bite into!
EQUIPMENT YOU'LL NEED
- Stand Mixer (I LOVE my Kitchen aid Mixer)
- Measuring cups
- Tahini
