INGREDIENTS YOU'LL NEED
What Alcohol To Use
I use two of my favorite spirits and liqueurs during the Christmas season, which are Irish Cream and Peppermint Vodka. Together they make a silky smooth, wayyyy too good of a drink, or in this case in a boozy easy xmas dessert!
Chocolate Pudding Mix
Get a good quality chocolate pudding mix. Check the variations below for alternatives if you're not a chocolate pudding fan, but I promise it's delicious when all the ingredients come together.
Heavy Cream
You'll need just a bit of heavy cream to make the pudding bind together with the amount of alcohol we will be adding. You can also use alternatives suggested below.
HOW TO MAKE CHRISTMAS PUDDING SHOTS
- Begin by whipping the heavy cream. Pour cold cream into a chilled mixing bowl and beat with an electric mixer on high speed until it's a soft peak consistency.
- To the cream, add the pudding mix and mix just until it's well combined.
- Add the peppermint vodka and Irish cream and mix until all the ingredients are combined and consistency is silky smooth.
- Transfer to small individual cups and place in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before serving.
- Enjoy cold. Use little spoons to get every little sip!
TOP TIPS
- Whip the cream until it's a soft peak. Under-whipping can cause the entire mixture to not set properly.
- Use the exact ratio of pudding to alcohol.
- Check the expiration date on the pudding and be sure to use fresh ingredients in order for everything to properly set.
VARIATIONS AND SUBSTITUTIONS
- Instead of Peppermint vodka: Use vanilla, caramel, or even orange vodka. These flavors work great with chocolate pudding to make a festive boozy pudding your guests will love.
- Instead of Irish Cream: Use kahlua to create a similar silky smooth taste profile.
- Instead of Heavy Cream: Skip the whipping and go straight to adding store-bought whipped cream. This cut down on time significantly and the entire recipe comes together in just 5 minutes.
HOW TO PROPERLY STORE
Keep the pudding shots in their individual containers or in a large air-tight container in the fridge for up to one week. Some of the alcohol may separate from the pudding, if this happens all you need to do is stir it before serving.
