This absolutely phenomenal Creamy Crab Pizza is easy to put together and worth every indulgent bite! Made with a white sauce, sprinkled with fresh tomatoes, green onion, and fresh parsley to add even more color and freshness to this seafood pizza recipe!

This is one of my family’s favorite easy crab meat pizza recipe to make for dinner or for out-of-town guests. It’s even perfect for a seafood appetizer!

If you follow us, you know how much we love our Dungeness crab. Thanks to our catch-and-cook lifestyle on the coast, crabbing season is a fun time for our family to spend time together in nature, and gather fresh caught Dungeness to make this pizza and many other crab recipes.

Like these crab tacos that are mouthwatering, or this super easy to whip together Cajun Crab Boil. We sure love it in this house! Especially if we end up with a little leftover, then we make this Crab Omelet recipe which completes our coastal life!

If you love crab rangoon as much as I do, you will absolutely love this pizza – that’s a healthier version, bursting with creamy and fresh flavors!

This pizza is every bit crispy, creamy, garlicky, and fresh with loads of crab meat! Now that’s my kind of meal!

What kind of crab to use for this recipe

You can use Dungeness or any other variety, even canned crab meat on this pizza. Other varieties may taste slightly different, however, any fresh variety is always delicious!

I’m using Dungeness for this recipe. I love working with Dungeness to create delicious, healthy(ish) and family friendly recipes from our life on the Pacific Coast.

About this Crab Pizza recipe from the Pacific Coast

When this pizza idea popped in my head, I was staring at the fresh Dungeness I had in my fridge and the cream cheese that was placed close by. A few weeks prior, I made a Rangoon recipe and had leftover cream cheese I hadn’t yet opened. So, making a pizza version was the next best thing!

Being that I love making the best crab recipes for my family as much as I love a good pizza, I knew I had to make a great creamy crab pizza recipe that was every bit delicious.

I immediately got to work on fresh homemade pizza dough and created this indulgent, crispy crust seafood pizza, topped with fresh ingredients to add light flavors to the mix.

TO MAKE THIS SEAFOOD PIZZA RECIPE, YOU WILL NEED:

If you’re working with crab legs or sections, you will need a seafood cracking set.

Measuring cups and spoons

Cutting board and a large knife. I love using these cutting boards when working with seafood.

Rolling pin and Mat to roll the dough on.

Baking sheets. For baking the pizza! I use regular baking sheets since they’re multi-purpose.

CREAMY CRAB PIZZA INGREDIENTS

  • Pizza dough. Linked is my homemade pizza dough recipe that comes together with minimal ingredients.

  • Crab meat. Pick through the meat for any bits of shells. I know we find some in ours from time to time. Dungeness recipes are abundant on my site, however, if you have another species local to you, feel free to substitute it for what you have 1:1. My goal is to always put a spotlight on the seafood in every recipe, and to use ingredients with purpose.

  • Cream cheese. Use a brick cream cheese to make the cream sauce. Comes together so easily!

  • Heavy cream. I use a little bit of heavy to liquefy the white cream sauce.

  • Mozzarella. You’ll want to use mozzarella over another cheese, to not add too much flavor that takes away from the seafood. After all, I love creating seafood recipes, but I NEVER budge on being able to taste the seafood!

  • Tomatoes. Cut into small cubes to not take over the flavor of everything else. They’re a nice fresh pop!

  • Green onion. Chop finely and sprinkle. You can sub for red onion.

  • Parsley. Fresh parsley sprinkled on top seals the deal!

  • Garlic. Fresh garlic will be best. Minced really fine, or use a garlic press. Gotta love them!

  • Dried oregano. You can sub for fresh oregano chopped finely.

  • Salt and pepper. Add a sprinkle to the sauce. You’re welcome to more on top of the pizza once cooked.

HOW TO MAKE THIS RECIPE

Making this pizza is fun and easy, the reward? A delicious creamy crab dinner!

Start with homemade pizza dough, then a garlicky white sauce to coat, then comes a sprinkling of cheese, and the showstopper; fresh crab picked through for shells!

Finished off with a good portion of fresh mix-ins, and you’re set to toss in the oven at 450F until golden brown.

Then you’ve got yourself a healthier version of a crab rangoon pizza worthy of the next bite.

TOP TIP FOR THIS PIZZA

The best tip I could give is to use homemade dough for the best overall freshness. Pizza dough is easy to make, with minimal ingredients. If you have an hour to spare while it’s resting, then it’s your best bet for a superb pizza.

Don’t have the time to make your own dough? Feel free to purchase dough if you prefer not to make your own. Most Pizza restaurants can sell dough, or look for it at your local grocery store.

FAQ

Can you make pizza dough ahead of time?

Yes, you can make pizza dough ahead of time, it’s very simple! I typically make my pizza dough ahead of time and place in fridge or store in the freezer for several months. Once you make your dough, let rise then divide and store in a ziploc for use in the future. Here is my favorite go-to pizza dough recipe.

Can you prepare crab pizza in advance?

Yes, you can absolutely prepare pizza in advance, even seafood pizza. My go-to method to preparing pizza in advance is to complete the steps just prior to baking the pizza then cover and place it in the fridge until I’m ready to bake. It’s similar to purchasing refrigerated ready-to-bake pizza from the store.
