TUNA MELT WRAP
Why eat your tuna plain when you can make this incredibly tasty and easy recipe!
When you buy high-quality canned tuna, you will notice a big difference in flavor and texture making this and other tuna recipes so much tastier.
As for the wrap, use your favorite flour tortilla. Whether it's traditional, a low-carb option, as long as you're familiar with the flavor.
I recommend going with plain, unflavored tortilla for this recipe, so it doesn't take over the yummy flavors.

RECIPE INGREDIENTS
- Tortilla. Regular white tortillas allow the other flavors to shine.
- Tuna Dip Filling:
- canned tuna. Use high-quality canned tuna packed in water, or oil. They both work great for these wraps.
- cream cheese
- sour cream
- red onion
- fresh parsley
- red pepper flakes
- Marinated sun-dried tomatoes. The flavor is unbeatable and the perfect pairing with tuna melt wraps to add a pop of color, flavor, and Mediterranean flare!
- Marinated artichoke hearts. Choosing marinated goes a long way in adding flavor. I often pair marinated artichokes with fish and other seafood for a juicy briny pop!
- Fresh spinach. Just a handful of fresh spinach is needed. The rest, I use in this spinach feta strawberry salad to pair alongside.
- Cheese. Choose either sliced cheddar, mozzarella, or swiss. I went with sliced mozzarella when making mine.
HOW TO MAKE A TUNA CHEESE WRAP
Step 1: Make the tuna dip mixture
First, you'll want to open the canned tuna and drain it completely. Any left over liquid can make the tuna dip mixture watered down.
In a medium bowl, mix tuna, sour cream, cream cheese, onion, parsley, red pepper flakes, and salt.

Step 2: Warm the tortilla and assemble
Heat a greased skillet on medium-low heat. Set a tortilla down and flip it when it has softened.

To the tortilla, add the tuna mixture, sundried tomatoes, artichokes, spinach, and cheese.

Step 3: How to fold into a wrap
Fold into thirds by folding the bottom in, then one side over the filling, then close the other side. Or wrap it like a burrito.
Allow to cook for a minute or two on one side.
Flip and warm through until the tortilla has crisped.
Repeat with the steps with the other wrap.
Serve warm.
EXPERT TIPS
- Choose a high quality tuna for best texture and flavor.
- Choose a plain tortilla wrap. Unless you love using whole wheat or other flavored tortillas, then go with a plain tortilla to get the most flavor from the filling itself.
- Cook it low and slow to completely warm up the tuna filling and melt the cheese.
SERVING TIPS
Tuna melt wrap is best served with a fresh salad like this strawberry feta spinach salad or this fresh and light Lebanese tabouli salad to compliment the Mediterranean flavors in this recipe.
STORAGE TIPS
Store in Fridge:
Store the wrap disassembled if possible.
For storing the tuna melt wrap, wait until completely cooled. Then, place them in an airtight container and store in the fridge for up to 3 days.
How to reheat:
Re-heat the wraps in the air fryer on 350 degrees F for just a couple minutes, or until warmed through.
HOW TO PREP AHEAD
You can easily prep tuna melt wraps ahead of time by making the tuna dip in advance, or prepping the entire wrap and storing it in the fridge in an airtight container until you're ready to warm and enjoy.
VARIATIONS AND SUBSTITUTIONS
- MAYO- Use mayo instead of cream cheese and sour cream if you can't have those ingredients.
- TORTILLA- Use whole wheat, gluten-free, or low-carb tortilla for healthier alternatives.
- FRESH TOMATOES- Substitute sun-dried tomatoes for fresh cherry tomatoes. Cut them in half and double the amount the recipe calls for.
- ADD BACON- Transform this recipe and make it a tuna melt with bacon! You can't go wrong with adding bacon to seafood.
- TUNA MELT IN AIR FRYER- If you're an air fryer phenetic, like I am, simplify the cooking process and make this tuna melt in the air fryer.

RECIPE FAQ
To highlight the other flavors in this recipe, including the tuna itself, use a low flavor cheese. The exception is swiss cheese since the flavors work extremely well with the tuna, sun-dried tomatoes and the artichokes.
Serve with a side of roasted veggies, roasted potatoes, or fresh salad. A fresh salad compliments it well by supplementing the meal with a light and fresh side.
Yes, you can eat them cold, or at room temperature. Though, warming up the melts provides the most flavor and allows the creaminess and cheese to shine.
The majority of canned tuna is high in mercury, making it more challenging to consume in high quantities. It's recommended you consume tuna no more than 2 servings per week.

Jody
Hi Suzy, How hot and for how long would I cook these in the Aur Fryer? Thanks! 😉
Suzy Sakamoto
Hi Jody! To air-fry tuna melts, I would try them at 350F for about 5 minutes and go from there if they need more time. Enjoy! -Suzy
