There's nothing like sitting back and drinking a cold refreshing drink after a long day! This blueberry gin and tonic style cocktail is one of our absolute favorites in the summer, especially during blueberry season.

Another one of our go-to's that's similar is this blueberry lemon drop martini that I could sit and drink all day with a seafood charcuterie spread, or my absolute favorite blueberry toast.

WHAT TONIC GOES WELL WITH BLUEBERRY GIN

This drink works perfectly with a classic tonic water, or a citrus tonic.

The slight bitterness and the refreshing flavors in the tonic complements the sweet and fruity notes of the blueberries, and the fresh piney flavor of gin, creating a delicious combination!

HOW TO MAKE THIS BLUEBERRY GIN AND TONIC COCKTAIL

    ingredients for blueberry gin cocktail

    INGREDIENTS YOU'LL NEED

    • Fresh blueberries. We have a local berry farm that we love picking fresh blueberries from, but any fresh blueberries will do. If you have frozen berries you'd like to use, those will will work as a back-up.
    • Gin. Get plain non-flavored gin to use, any decent bottle will do. Not top shelf since you'll be mixing it, but not bottom-shelf either.
    • Tonic. if you have a favorite tonic brand, go for that. I only had one option available in my remote coastal town, so that's what I chose. It ended up working out well!
    • Fresh lime juice. Using fresh squeezed lime juice and avoiding store-bought lime juice is how you'll make the best flavored cocktail!

    STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS

    FAQ

Can I use frozen blueberries instead of fresh ones?

Yes, frozen blueberries work well too. They can even act as ice cubes to keep your drink cold without diluting it too quickly. Muddle them as you would with fresh berries and continue with the rest of the recipe.

Are there any non-alcoholic versions of blueberry gin cocktail?

Yes! You can easily make a non-alcoholic version of this drink by using omitting the alcohol in this recipe. You can also add more lime and simple syrup to give it more flavor.

Can I make a big batch of this gin cocktail for a party?

It's easy to make a big batch of this cocktail for an upcoming party. Prepare the recipe in a large pitcher and add all the ingredients, leaving the tonic water for adding right before serving. Once you add the tonic, stir and serve immediately.

What's a good garnish for a blueberry gin cocktail?

There's a lot of great garnish options for this recipe. Use sliced lime or lime cut into wedges. Fresh blueberries sprinkled inside the drink or on a cocktail skewer. Fresh herb is another great option for garnish, like mint, rosemary, or thyme.

A great upgrade to a classic gin and tonic. Easy to have too many, we made 4 servings and it was perfect for a hot evening around the fire
