This blueberry lemon drop martini is bursting with fresh flavor and is so easy to make in 5 minutes! It's a tried and true recipe, that's the best and most flavorful blueberry lemon drop out there!

blueberry lemon drop martini with lemon and blueberry garnish

I love making this martini for when guests are over, because let me tell you, we all need those quick, fresh, delicious drinks that our friends and family will remember. Emphasis on easy to make!!!

Or if you're more of a gin person, this blueberry gin cocktail is so darn good as well!

We love pairing drinks with appetizers, like this blueberry toast, or a seafood charcuterie board that's an absolute favorite in my household. Dips also work great, like hummus, baba ghanouj (Lebanese fresh eggplant dip), or mutabal with fresh veggies on top!

    FRESH BLUEBERRY LEMON DROP RECIPE

I'm an absolute sucker for anything lemon, let alone a berry lemon mixture that would be the first thing I order on any menu! This classic lemon drop is delicious, but adding fresh blueberries transforms the drink in the best way possible.

It's the perfect blueberry lemon drop that's sweet from the blueberries and simple syrup, with the perfect touch of citrus, and the right amount of vodka.

You can't forget to toss in a small piece of lemon peel to muddle with the blueberries, to add that quintessential lemon drop bitterness. Then, garnished with a slice of lemon and a few blueberries to highlight the flavors in the best way possible.

It will have you buzzed, but leave you enjoying your cocktail. It's going to be one of your favorite blueberry vodka drinks!

ingredients for blueberry lemon drop martini

    INGREDIENTS YOU'LL NEED

    • VODKA
It wouldn't be a blueberry lemon drop martini without vodka. Use your go-to plain bottle vodka.

    • LEMONS
You will need freshly squeezed lemon juice and some of the rind as well. The lemon juice provides a tangy and tart flavor that balances out the sweetness of the blueberries. Be sure to use fresh lemon juice, as bottled lemon juice can have a bitter taste.

    • FRESH BLUEBERRIES
Blueberries are the star ingredient of this drink, and they provide a sweet and tart flavor that complements the lemon perfectly. You can use either fresh or frozen blueberries, depending on what is available to you, but I much prefer to use fresh!

    • SIMPLE SYRUP
We love making homemade simple syrup and store it to make future drinks easier! It's a 50/50 ratio of water to sugar. Easy peasy!

    EXPERT TIPS

    1. Don't forget the lemon rind! Muddle the peel to get the right amount of bitterness.
    2. Use good quality vodka. The better the vodka, the better the drink!
    3. Use good quality blueberries. Not all blueberries are bursting with flavor, go for organic or local when you can to get the most flavor in your blueberry lemon drop martini.
    4. I highly recommend using a mesh strainer instead of the cocktail shaker to pour your drink. From my experience, the cocktail shaker gets clogged easily and makes it more challenging to strain the drink.

    HOW TO PREP AHEAD

You can easily make this entire drink ahead of time and get it ready for your guests in seconds!

To make ahead, you'll need to muddle the blueberries and lemon rind in a cocktail shaker. Then pour in the lemon juice and vodka, and shake. Chill in the fridge until you're ready to serve. All you'll need to do is add ice to the cocktail shaker, shake vigorously for a few seconds, then pour into martini glasses to serve.

WHY YOU SHOULD TRY THIS DRINK

    1. Refreshing. The combination of blueberries and lemon creates a refreshing and unique flavor that is perfect for summer sipping.
    2. Easy! Whip it up in no time with just a cocktail shaker and a muddler.
    3. Easily prepped ahead. This cocktail can easily be made in advance, and perfect for entertaining or for a refreshing drink after a long day! Sign me up!
    4. Gorgeous! The beautiful purple color of the blueberry lemon martini makes it an eye-catching and Instagram-worthy drink.
    5. Balanced flavor! The sweetness of the blueberry and sugar syrup is perfectly balanced with the tartness of the lemon juice, creating a deliciously balanced cocktail that is sure to impress.

    VARIATIONS AND SUBSTITUTIONS

    • MOCKTAIL OPTION
You can easily substitute vodka for a clear soda, or sparkling water. Sprite works great in this recipe.

    • VODKA
Instead of vodka you can use another clear like gin, or white rum.

    • SIMPLE SYRUP
Honey can be a great substitute for simple syrup. Make sure you completely dissolve in before pouring.

    • LEMON JUICE
Instead of fresh lemon juice, for a twist you can try juice of another citrus. Orange juice for a sweeter drink, or grapefruit for a more bitter drink.

    • BLUEBERRIES
If you want to avoid fresh or frozen blueberries another great option is strawberry, blackberry, or raspberry. They're versatile and delicious!
